A warm welcome to everyone who has registered to learn how to play the djembe. We’re excited to have you join this musical journey. Whether you are completely new to drumming or already have some rhythm experience, this is a wonderful opportunity to explore the powerful sounds and rich traditions of the djembe.

The 3 Primary Tones of the Djembe

IN OUR SESSIONS YOU WILL:

The djembe is more than just a drum - it's a way to express yourself, connect with others, and feel the energy of rhythm. So come ready to listen, learn, and most importantly, have fun!
1. Know Basic Techniques Of Playing The Djembe
You will learn and understand the three main hand strokes of the djembe: bass, tone/tap and, slap. Practicing these strokes slowly, you will develop control, rhythm, and good sound quality.
2. Understanding Different Rhymes And Patterns
Combine the 3 main strokes to create rhythmic sequences by practicing simple patterns, listening, timing, developing a sense of rhythm, coordination & musical expression.
3. Practice Hand Coordination 
This will help you to develop a steady rhythm. Alternating the right & left hand while playing will also help you keep a consistent beat and maintain control of movements
4. Enjoy Making Music Together
Enjoying playing the djembe together can be fun & exciting. People playing in a group will allow listening to each other and combining different rhythms to create lively music.
